A new anime community platform launched this year has reached an important milestone.

Chicago, IL -- (ReleaseWire) -- 03/10/2017 -- A new anime platform, built from the ground up for anime fans to connect with each other, has reached an important milestone just a few days after launch. The website, http://ani.me/ now has 500 active registered users on the platform.

Ani.me is a feature-rich social media platform built around Japanese animation, also sometimes called Nihon Anime.

Anime is a medium of expression that started gaining steam and popularity in America as shows began to appear on North American television, including Pokemon and Sailor Moon. Surprisingly, many anime fans are female, as the popularity of Sailor Moon really touched the hearts of young girls in English-speaking countries.

The Ani.me web platform features forums which are dedicated to discussing anime, video games, and visiting Japan. Users use the forums to discuss their favorite anime, and look for advice regarding new shows to watch. Users also even talk about visiting Japan in person. The forums can be accessed at https://ani.me/topics

According to the Wikipedia article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime the earliest commercial Japanese animation dates to 1917, and Japanese anime production has since continued to increase steadily. The characteristic anime art style emerged in the 1960s with the works of Osamu Tezuka and spread internationally in the late twentieth century, developing a large domestic and international audience. Anime is distributed theatrically, by way of television broadcasts, directly to home media, and over the Internet. It is classified into numerous genres targeting diverse broad and niche audiences.

Anime these days can be drawn in a wide variety of styles, from hand-painted individual cells, to digitally rendered shows with thicker borders and more bold colors.

The Ani.me community also recently launched a chat platform, which enables users to chat with each other in real-time, similar to other major websites. This technology has allowed the Ani.me website to leapfrog other websites in their user's ability to connect with each other.
